Artist Meet Up- Sundays at Ashley's Pub

I’ve been thinking a lot about how Tacoma has a standing artist meet up. People just know it’s at the same place at the same time. Bremerton essentially has this, I’m just not sure people know about it.

It’s at Ashley’s.
Sunday afternoon starting at noon, Ashley’s Pub is a place for creating, it’s called Crafternoon. I’ve seen letter writing, drawing, collaging, crocheting, mini painting- anything you want. Bring a snack and your supplies, get a drink and make things. There is even a crafternoon discord.

Physical community is the cure for what ails us. Ashley’s is the best 3rd place in town.

I did, in fact, not know this! Thanks @GraySkies! I love Ashley’s, just wish it was all-ages so I could bring my child.

I agree @Roxyfae! But also glad this exists, I’m gonna try to make it!

Rimbert’s does a cozy open-mic (there’s one tonight), and there are big tables with art supplies out that folks can use. Free and all-ages. Ridgeline is also all-ages maybe something could be setup there.

There is a “Kitsap creative Collective” meet up at 2pm at Heathens Bakery, I believe it is 3rd Sunday. I haven’t been to it yet but it might be all ages. But The Bakery is definitely all ages either way. I haven’t been to the art meet-up there yet because it’s at the same time as a drum circle I attend. But I might try to make it to the one at Ashley’s pub for a bit :slightly_smiling_face:

There’s also Thursday evening crafting at Bluesky (6pm) — not sure if it’s in the bar area or the area where kids are allowed though! That group used to meet at chaos bay.

Thanks again for this tip @GraySkies! I went down there this afternoon and met with @mike to talk about local mesh networks and other weird projects! How do we get involved in the Crafternoon Discord?

Hi, howdy, Hello! I love that Ashley’s has this for the grown folks! I would love to try and make it sometime too. As anothet alternative Rimbert Illustration has also been hosting an all -ages open art night the 1st and 3rd Thursday of every month from 5-8:30pm going on 4 years now . I might change it this spring though so I can go the Farmers Market!! Art supplies are also out for the All Ages open mic and live music. The more spaces on a variety of days the better so we always have a place to go When we need it.
